what's up! i'm alex (they/them), a full time freelance illustrator based in the pacific northwest. i mostly specialize in character and concept art, particularly for the TTRPG and furry communities!
my more original work is alternative, driven by passion, and meant to be healing to those who have felt left out by the mainstream. i play off of certain horror genre tropes a lot 'cause i like to turn them on their head, as a way of inspiring resilience! that's also why i chose "abyssal" art for my online handle and an anglerfish for my fursona: life still survives even in the darkest, coldest place at the bottom of the sea, and the unknown ought to be explored with curiosity, not feared. i hope you feel at home in my shadowy little corner of the internet!
as an openly queer, neurodivergent, and 100% human artist i take great pride in the authenticity of my work. everything is made by hand using clip studio paint and sometimes procreate; rest assured i will never use any form of generative ai.
